Bir nevi kıyamet sonrası gelecekte, isimsiz bir ülkedeyiz. Düşen dev bir meteor açıklanması güç olaylara sebep olmuştur. Yarattığı etki Zone adı verilen bir alanda etkili olmaktadır. Bu alanın ortasında yer alan bir odada insanlığın en derin tutkularını gerçek yapacağı söylenen bir güç vardır. Dikenli teller ve askerlerle korunan Zone`a sadece zihinsel güçleri ve yeterli cesaretleri olan Stalker`lar girebilmekte ve eşlik ettikleri insanları odadaki güçle yüzleşmeye götürmektedirler. Kahramanımız da böyle bir Stalker`dır. Karısının itirazlarına rağmen bir bilimadamı bir de yazarı yanına alarak hayatının yolculuğuna çıkar.
