Seven Chances’da (Yedi Şans), her tür sinemasal gag (gülüt, komik durum) kullanılarak, zaman, uzam ve fizikselliğin şaşırtıcı etkileşiminden kahkaha malzemesi çıkarılmış. Kilisenin içindeki ünlü kamera açısını gözünüzün önüne getirin örneğin Buster, arkasındaki boşluğu tümüyle dolduran yüzlerce grotesk kadına görünmeksizin ön sırada uyuyor (Filmin 1999’da gerçekleştirilen ve tam bir felaket olan yeniden çevrimi The Bachelor-Şahane Bekar’da kullanılan tek sahne). Keaton’ın gag anlayışının dingin kaçıklığı, çağdaşı gerçeküstücülerin kalbini fethetmişti: Örneğin senaryonun yedi sayısına yönelik mantıksız saplantısı (Buster’ın 27. yaş gününde saat yediye kadar evlenmek için yedi şansı vardır); ya da sözümona beyaz ve Amerikalı bir grup yetişkin kadının, aslında (sırasıyla) küçük bir kız, Musevi, zenci ve erkek olduğunun ortaya çıktığı sekansta olduğu gibi insanların sahip olduğu herhangi bir sabit kimliği tümüyle anlamsızlaştıran olağanüstü gag’ler..
